One of our project highlights of 2022 was the full internal and external branding package we delivered for M&S Food at three store locations in Chesterfield, Eastbourne, and the Isle of Wight, working with Main Contractor ISG Ltd on a full refit of the busy town centre shop fronts.
In this case study, we outline the project brief, the challenges faced by the client, and what our team did to fulfil their expectations within budget and timescale.
The project brief included full external branding, internal department signs, and wayfinding signage, all to the current M&S brand specifications.
The end-user had recently taken over several redundant former Debenhams retail units on busy high streets in Eastbourne, Chesterfield, and the Isle of Wight. As the main contractor, ISG was overseeing an ambitious retail conversion at each site – our role in the project was to help bring these empty shells to life with a bold and colourful signage design scheme, incorporating M&S’s latest branding ideas.
The M&S design scheme includes a wide range of design motifs, colours, and ideas, with an ever-evolving scope of branding requirements. Our challenge was to align a diverse portfolio of external branding, wayfinding, and internal department signs with these guidelines, with a bold, illuminated approach to capture customer attention and encourage footfall in the new stores.
We liaised closely with both the Main Contractor and the End User at each stage of the project, successfully navigating various design changes to assist the end user in achieving their project goals.
We were brought on at a relatively late stage of the project and the deadline for each milestone was tight. Through successful communication and project management, we were able to deliver and install the signage according to schedule, enabling the stores to open on time with an extremely impactful brand stamp, attracting customers to this ever-growing estate.
“Congratulations to Image Technique, M&S Chesterfield has incorporated the latest Branding to Magnificent effect.”
Our team managed a successful signage delivery, completing all aspects of the project including manufacture, installation, and project management. Photos of the completed signage from the Chesterfield shop can be viewed below.
We would like to thank the staff at both ISG and M&S for an enjoyable and successful project, and we look forward to future collaborations with both businesses.
